In a very competitive league comprising of many clubs first team the Naas team put up many good performances, and this was backed up by regular attendance at training sessions. After hovering just above the relegation zone for most of the season a fine run to the end of the season ensured mid table respectability for the ever improving panel.
The panel travelled to Station Road Newbridge on the final night of league of Ireland fixtures on the 15th November to play a half time 6 a side game in front of a very large travelling Dundalk crowd hoping their team would capture the league title and promotion. Owen Keeley replaced the unavailable Jack Bennett for the night and in what proved to be a very entertaining match the Naas Stripe team fought back from 4-1 down to get a well deserved 4-4 draw in front of a very appreciative crowd. In what proved to be one of the most eventful nights in League of Ireland history with a 94 minute equaliser by Limerick against Shelburne giving Dundalk the league title, the U11B1 panel were there to witness the occasion and the presentation of the cup to the victorious Dundalk team. Many thanks again to our friends at Kildare County for making the night such a night to remember for the young planers. Hopefully the experience will encourage the team to support League of Ireland matches in the future.

The team also travelled to Richmond Park Inchicore on 17th April to take on Boot Road Celtic in an 11 a side half time match during the St. Patrick’s versus Drogheda fixture. In an entertaining match in front of a well received crowd Naas were victorious thanks to a Michael Abolder goal against a spirited Boot Road team.
The close link up with St. Pat’s has ensured a regular attendance by the Naas team at Richmond Park with the St. Pats commercial team of Philip Nolan and Declan White always welcoming and encouraging to the young players. The link up has given the Naas team a good understanding and introduction to the League of Ireland with many of the players now dreaming of fulfilling their dream of playing at the highest level with St. Pats in Ireland before the ultimate goal of playing in the Premiership. It has also been encouraging to hear the players talking about and trying out some of Ryan Guy’s magic in training rather than the usual list of Premiership players. Many thanks again for the co operation and encouragement of the St. Pats commercial team and we look forward to the Naas teams regular attendance at Richmond Park.
